About a year before I had seen the same picture on the same morning newscast from a completely different reason. They were part of the very small community of people who refused to leave the French Quarter, which is an area of New Orleans when the city was evacuated because of Hurricane Katrina and all its devastation were headed their way. Addie, Zack and a few others not evacuate and seemed a good life to live together in the ruins of the largest hurricane life that had a part of America ever seen. The morning news show had a piece about the two of them made, which was really quite touching. Love among the ruins was a kind of thread and the two lovers smiled from ear to ear in a very different in his arms and seemed happy as long as they had each other. At the time, it seemed as if nothing could ever come between them appeared. As long as they had a another they could conquer all life had to throw their way. Or at least that was the way I remember to look at them. Never at that time I would have ever thought that about a year later I would see their smiling faces that morning newscast with a very cruel headline. Very different from the first that something along the lines of "True love can really conquer all" was. The title of this time was suicide / murder ". Cruelest crimes seen for many years," New Orleans Police Say Quite the contrast between the two stories, and as more and more details began appearing even more fascinating, this case was to get me to the surface and too many.
Addie and Zack were both in their late twenties or early thirties, when they met through a mutual friend. They both worked as a bartender in the French Quarter and by most accounts they met and fell quite in love quickly. Both work as a bartender in the French Quarter before Hurricane celebrate both liked and drink and were considered to be free spirits.The story is that when the evacuation in New Orleans began before the infamous Hurricane Katrina Zack came Addie apartment the intention to say "goodbye", before leaving the area with his ex-wife and two children. With just about everyone gone, the few who had decided, were to remain to live, break to get into houses and stores, what they needed. Think about it for a second. All of a sudden, the city in which you live, or what's left of it anyway, is empty not only in ruins, but for the most part. There is no traffic. Very few people. No power. Everything is designed for recording and you are the love of your life. That's what life had become suddenly for Zack and Addie and although I imagine in was very hard at first, once you get used to it, it would not be so bad. Money all of a sudden does not mean a thing. feel all of a sudden it was like the whole world is yours. It was about a month or so afer the hurricane, the New York Times a story about Zack and Addie ran and so did several other newscasts. You can lucky in this time written all over their faces to see, again, it is a picture of a couple was that in love seems more than can be any other. Two people so crazy about each other, it is hard to imagine how anything could ever come between them. Like anything has ever gone wrong. But have things and ended the story of these two lovers, like a Shakespearean history in absolute tragedy.
I suppose no one will ever really know when things started downhill for Addie and Zack, but I would imagine it was when things go back to "normal" in the French Quarter of New Orleans started that things started to get shaky with the two lovers. As all of us, had Zack and Addie personal problems of their own, that they had to do it. Addie suffered from Bi-Polar and Zack suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from his years of service in Iraq. I would imagine, these disturbances were in many ways disturbed due to their circumstances. One, I do not know about their medical history or if either or both were helping to take medication to relieve the symptoms of their mental illness, but I would imagine they were likely. Particularly Addie because very few diagnosed bi-polarizers are not prescribed at least one drug. My point is, I can not imagine that with al the chaos with the consequences of a hurricane like Katrina go, that one of them access to their drugs had for some time. I would imagine this would put on a relationship, at least a little stress. Two, when it all started back to "normal" go on, they were no longer living in their own little world, as it had been for some time. Pretty much since the beginning of their relationship. Really, their whole relationship for the most part was not in the "real world" type of environment, if that makes any sense. All they knew was this little world of its own. A world where money was no object. Jobs did not exist and that life was to do what you want, when you want. The responsibility is not just something that exists in the world that Zack and Addie relationship to life, has been used in. Real life, unfortunately, does not go so .. I wish it did! They went back to work as a bartender and their relationship quickly became increasingly rocky. They would talk a lot and fought both with their own demons, let alone the other demons are many stories about infidelity and drug abuse were. The only two people who really know what is happening really began in this respect, are the two that were in the relationship ... Addie and Zack. We will never really know because no one will ever be able to tell the whole story.
The New Orleans police got a call one morning at about five o'clock in the morning. Apparently a young man had jumped out of a hotel window and was lying dead in the sidewalk. I can not remember which body part was where but I know that some in the freezer were, while others cook on the stove. her head was in me a large soup pot on the stove. in the letter in his pocket, made Zacks motive for the murder of Addie clearly was not found, but he admitted to strangle her. he claimed that she, that he and murdered just lost had him screaming and accusing him of cheating her had. He also claimed that he took his own life for the one to pay, which he took.
the story of Addie Hall and Zack Bowen is really a modern shakespearan history. "Love in the ruins, all to conquer. But such a great love ends in a tragedy. When a love that is so strong, it's all can conquer, it can endure a tragedy like this and flourish in the afterlife?"
