A Christian is often possible obstacles in following God. What are some obstacles that cause us to stop following God? The purpose of this article is to explain some of the obstacles that a Christian may encounter in following God and to discuss how to overcome these obstacles.
An obstacle in God following is spiritual negligence or careless (Hebrews 2: 3). We can become careless in our Christian walk and neglect to do the things we know we should do. We can become careless because we take off our focus of God's kingdom and focus on the cares of this life (Lk 21:34). We can overcome neglect plan through our lives and to live our plans. We can write our spiritual goals including prayer, Bible study and service to others. Then we can compare what we have done with our plans to see where we need to make corrections.
A second obstacle in God following is alcohol abuse and drunkenness (Luke 21:34). The Greek word for surfeiting means the effects of wine drinking to excess. While wine cheers God and man (Judges 9:13), alcohol abuse and drunk a lack of self-control show (Proverbs 20: 1). Self-control or moderation is one of the fruits of the Spirit (Gal 5:23). Christians need to do the wine or other alcoholic drinks in moderation.
The deceitfulness of riches is another potential obstacle to follow God. to be rich, is not wrong. Abraham is the father of the faithful, and he was very rich. However, no two masters (Matthew 6:24) serve. Wealth must be a servant and not a master. Jesus Christ should be our only master. We can overcome the deceitfulness of riches by serving wealth with God by having to give his community and to give of which the real needs that they can not take care of themselves.
Another obstacle that may cause us to end by God, bitterness (Hebrews 12:15). Many people leave God following because of bitterness. We must not turn bitter; we have a real or imagined wrong overcome us fond of mercy that on anyone who have wronged us, forgive them, and to do good (Romans 12:21).
Another obstacle to God in the following is the pride of self-sufficiency (I John 2.16) where we think that we do not really need God or assembly regularly with other Christians (Hebrews 10:25). We can proudly overcome through meditation, how much we need God by regularly to serve with other Christians in the assembly and through the active other.
Add obstacles in following God to overcome, we must make a valiant effort. However, we must remember that we do not fully overcome such obstacles on their own. We need the help of the Holy Spirit, of a spirit of power (II Timothy 1: 7). We are many obstacles in our Christian walk. We must overcome through careful effort with the help of the Holy Spirit.
